  • dotThe Montessori School of Tokyo (MST) is proud to provide an internationally recognized curriculum for the international student. MST is the only Montessori Elementary School in Japan accepting students from age 3 to 12. With its beginnings as a pre-school/kindergarten in 1993, MST has grown to where it now enrolls over 150 students representing over 35 countries. Our Montessori trained teachers, come from over 10 countries around the world and are familiar with many different international settings.
    Our core values of Confidence, Respect and Compassion, are reflected throughout the school community, as is the universal Montessori approach, allowing students to transition seamlessly from other Montessori schools around the world. The school is located in central Tokyo close to many public parks.
    The cornerstone of our educational philosophy can be summed up by our mission statement: “Stimulating curiosity while developing independence in thought and action.”  We aim not to fill children with knowledge, but to teach them how to learn.

    Nishimachi International School (NIS) has been a leader in dual-language education in Tokyo for over fifty years. Core classes are taught in English. Additionally, all students take Japanese in classes based on their language ability and curriculum requirements. The rich academic program enables students to become communicators, thinkers, responsible learners, collaborative workers, developers of quality work, and global citizens. The student body is diverse, and the community supportive.

    School Year: August to June. Various summer school programs offered.

    Placement test: Required. Applicants are screened by a committee of teachers. Acceptance is contingent upon the availability of space and the student’s linguistic and academic abilities.

    Shirogane International School is an international preschool in Tokyo for children aged 18 months - 5 years old.
